Grants to support activities and sports in Frome
GRANTS

Grants

2012 saw the first Frome Half Marathon. In 2017, the organisation changed and the seeds of FAST were sown, created to encourage activities and sports in Frome through grants generated by the profits from the Half Marathon.

You can apply for a grant if you:

  • Are a voluntary organisation run by unpaid volunteers.

  • Are open to all and not selective in your membership.

  • Offer individuals/groups the opportunity to take part in a sport or activity where access to such an opportunity may otherwise be restricted.

  • The sport or activity you offer takes place within the BA11 postcode.

Frome Falcons Powerchair Football Club

Grant awarded: £500

The club is open to adults and children with physical disabilities. Currently, members are aged between 5 years and 13 years. Members’ siblings are also welcome.
The club has entered two teams into the South West Regional League for Powerchair football and the grant is being used to help with the costs for the transport of the specialist equipment they use and league affiliation fees.

Frome Flyers Cycling Club

Grant awarded: £500

Go Ride Club is a new initiative, offering training, general participation and competitive opportunities for young people cycling in Frome.  The grant is going towards the preparation of a permanent cycling course, based at Oakfield School.

Frome Selwood Tennis Club

Grant awarded: £500

The tennis club aims to increase participation in tennis in Frome through the ‘Reaching Out’ scheme for juniors. Over the past couple of years, the scheme has helped 10 children from low-income families receive coaching and club membership who would otherwise not have the opportunity. Currently the scheme offers free coaching to children who qualify for the Pupil Premium at school.
